A heartfelt gift from Destiny Events for Valentine’s Day 2026 was a 500 person capacity drum ‘n’ bass special event featuring Dirtyphonics imported direct from Paris, France – the city of love.
Dirtyphonics is no stranger to performances in Toronto though.
In fact, they’ve performed regularly in the GTA for more than 15 years starting back when they were a touring group of 4 (originally the group formed in 2004 with 3 members: Charly Barranger, Thomas ‘Pho’ Desbouvrie and James ‘Youthstar’ Davies, with Julien ‘Pitchin’ Corrales joining in 2008 to make 4).
Since then, during immense success and popularity with their metal influenced signature sound, Dirtyphonics has shrunk down to 2 members (group founder, Charly Barranger, and Julien ‘PitchIn’ Corrales), in 2011 James ‘Youthstar Davies departed and began working with drum ‘n’ bass act Camo & Krooked as well as releasing solo material with Chinese Man Records as Youthstar and Thomas ‘Pho’ Desbouvrie departed the group in early 2014 to become an artist/painter under the name Matheo de Bruvisso.
However, the shrinking effect of Dirtyphonics was not synonymous with their continuing explosive success.
Since becoming a duo, Barranger and Corrales have released 24 singles, 6 collaborations/remixes, their second studio album (Magnetic, the followup to Irreverence), 5 EPs, retooled their live show and headlined countless festivals around the world as well as being dubbed the ambassadors to French bass music with their focus on helping launch other French bass producers into the limelight.
That Valentine’s Day though, Szeto, Remedy and Marcus Visionary supported Dirtyphonics in celebrating the love of music with all of their fans at Nømad Nightclub in Toronto, Canada.
