A Film/TV Producer & Filmmaker, Cultural Journalist/Photographer & Media Personality, Special Events/Festival Producer & Promoter, Artist and Occasional DJ – Young is an Entertainment Entrepreneur with an extensive history working on projects from the community to international levels.

FILM/TV PRODUCER + FILMMAKER:
Following his graduation from film school (with focus in producing) in Toronto, Canada in 2018, Sean worked under Emmy, Golden Globe and Canadian Screen Award winning executive producer, Andrew Barnsley (Schitt’s Creek) and Ben Murray, during Project 10 Productions and SEVEN24 Films first season rollout of the Canadian Screen Award winning drama series, ‘Jann’ (2019), for CTV/Bell Media.

Moving on to launch Electronic Earth, the production company he now produces under, Sean has produced and collaborated on projects that have been selected at festivals across the globe with his most celebrated works as a producer, ‘Samantha’ (2018), and ‘Nature Boy’ (2018), winning in numerous categories including: Best Picture, Best Cinematography, Best Scare, Best Actor, Best Editor, Best Sound and even a Grand Jury Prize.

Other notable film and television projects Sean has produced or meaningfully collaborated on include: ‘Poly’ (2019); ‘The Last of Us’ (2020); ‘Painting On the Wall’ (2018); and his debut project as writer/director ‘Precipice’ (2018) which acts as prologue to the series he has in development.

Young has also partnered Electronic Earth to collaborate on the sci-fi/thriller feature film, ‘Neurovenge’(2023) – wherein he made a rare onscreen cameo – and collaborated with a Communication and Culture PhD candidate to film their lecture, ‘Intellectual Property: Issues in the Digital Age’ (2021) – which is now part of the Undergraduate Creative Industries curriculum at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU).

Sean is a member in good standing of: Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN), and Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

CULTURAL JOURNALIST/PHOTOGRAPHER + MEDIA PERSONALITY:
Prior to attending film school, Sean created the media personality, SERIAL SEAN, and launched an entertainment media and journalism company by leveraging his connections from cultural festivals and special events to conduct and publish interviews with notable performance acts and artists like: Infected Mushroom; Andy C (UK); Nina Arsenault; Lab4 (UK); Dirtyphonics (FR); Tracy Young (US); Stacey Jackson; and, Camo & Crooked (AT), amongst others.

SERIAL SEAN provided Young the opportunity to provide his audience unique behind the scenes perspective from an entertainment professional which led him to being pursued to contribute to 3 separate online publications for a combined period of 3.5 years while separately being asked to provide commentary/opinion to articles in several publications including Maclean’s Magazine.

Since then, Young has taken interest in, written about, and presented opinion to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) about their modernization of Canada’s Broadcasting Framework – using his education and background in intellectual property (IP) and law to contribute to the shaping of legislation that will determine the future of Canadian audio-visual content funding.

Most recently, Sean has begun to revive and rebrand his entertainment journalism efforts to include more areas of entertainment by deep diving into the lives of filmmakers Denis Villeneuve (‘Blade Runner 2049’ (2017) & both ‘Dune’ (2021/2024) films) and Luc Besson (‘The Fifth Element’ (1997) & ‘Lucy’(2014)) which has led to being invited to attend TIFF 2024 as an accredited member of the press through the TIFF Media Inclusion Initiative (NBC Universal & Rotten Tomatoes).
