EPIC (2013)

After just finishing previewing Epic (2013), I have to say that it was a very well written adventure story with great character development. The one downfall I felt the writing had was an overuse of ‘hinting’ throughout the dialogue to give insights into the history of the opposing sides of good v. evil – in my opinion, this would have better been explained through strategically placed flashback elements of historical animation sequences.

While I did think the hinting through dialogue was too prevalent, it solidly communicated that the two sides were tied together historically and that neither side would have purpose in existing without the other.

Complete suspension of reality or deferral of logic would have helped, but I still thought Epic (2013) delivered on a heartwarming, action packed, story with a great message attached to it – but keeping in my ‘no spoilers’ style of review, you’ll just have to enjoy the film yourself to find out what that message is..

A teenager finds herself transported to a deep forest setting where a battle between the forces of good and the forces of evil is taking place. She bands together with a rag-tag group characters in order to save their world — and ours.
