The story revisits the 80s (literally) nostalgia from the original cartoon and brings life back to the wonder of the alien robots and their compassion to the curiosity and innocence of humanity, a characteristic lost from the previous spiraling out of control film franchise.<\/p>\n

Hailee Steinfeld portrays \u2018Charlie\u2019, a freshly 18 year old girl still struggling with the death of her father while watching her mother involved in a new relationship. Charlie\u2019s angst ridden life takes a turn when she discovers the freedom (and danger) of getting her first car from the junkyard and realizes that it\u2019s a lot more responsibility than she bargained for.<\/p>\n
